Compassionate, in-depth psychotherapy
Welcome to the Skinner-Drawz Psychotherapy website. I am a psychotherapist with a Masters in Social Work from the University of NC-Chapel Hill and a PhD in Family Social Science from the University of MN.
I have a relational approach that emphasizes mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. My psychotherapy practice is influenced by concepts from trauma informed somatic therapy, integrative mental health including nutrition and yoga, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. I help adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, transitions, trauma, parenting challenges, grief and loss and relationship issues.
I provide a safe, warm space in which clients process feelings and thoughts, generate insights and concrete coping skills, and develop trust in and acceptance of themselves. We will explore the systems to which you belong (e.g. relationships, family, culture) and explore how such systems influence your current functioning. You will learn to listen to the signals your body is giving you.
I believe in and encourage integrity to self and community, authenticity, self-compassion, radical acceptance, strength in vulnerability, belonging and connection, and the ability to reduce suffering and experience joy.
